God as Nomad

God , for Peter Steele sj, is an expatriate and a traveller, "a nomad whose home is the earth."

The way of God into the far country of alienation, contradiction and death, and the homecoming of the Son of Man into the light of God's presence from ignominy are two versions of the same occasion.

The peregrinatory beam emanates from God into the world and imparts in all people the capacity to experience existence as a form of expatriation and to regard life as a journey home.

God is the horizon of all our journeyings, the climax of our yearnings, the One who is where we are beginning to be.
